As an integral part of a multi-disciplined team, you will be responsible for providing laboratory technical support and assistance for the technologists, scientists and other workers related to key Research & Development programs supporting the innovation portfolio. This is a hands-on position where most of the technician’s time will be spent in the company’s laboratories and job responsibilities will also include general laboratory and equipment maintenance to ensure the laboratories remain fully operational with safety a number one priority.

Your Tasks:

Assist in the performance evaluation and benchmarking of materials supporting Research & Development projects and report findings
Assist in basic synthesis and formulation work to support Research & Development projects
Setting up of new test methods and application testing procedures to support projects
Carrying out routine tasks accurately and following strict methodologies to carry out analyses
Performing laboratory tests in order to produce reliable and precise data to support scientific investigations
Recording and sometimes interpreting results to present to senior colleagues
Assist in the preparation of samples to be sent to customers for trials
Maintain and calibrate laboratory technical equipment
Maintenance of laboratory notebooks and experiment records and data keeping
Ensuring safe laboratory practices are adopted by all laboratory members at all time
Maintenance of safety checklists and operating procedures
Ordering of laboratory equipment and chemicals to support day to day activities and ensuring laboratory remains well stocked
Keeping up to date with technical developments, especially those which can save time and improve reliability
Conducting searches on identified topics relevant to the research.

Your Profile:

Diploma in Chemistry or Material Sciences
First experience in industrial or University laboratory experience
Experience in basic polymer synthesis, formulation work and analytical characterisation
Basic understanding & practical experience of coating application methods and liquid deposition techniques.
